Lakeside Addition
The clients desired a contemporary addition that opened to the lake below their home. The existing house lacked a coherent style and the buildable area of the site was very limited. The shape of the addition in plan follows the setback line of the site. It takes the form of a small glazed module with an integrated covered entrance area, and a walled exterior deck. The addition is built on piers to minimize the cost of construction. These are expressed as laminated timber legs, carried to grade by steel weldments. The entry, partially enclosed deck and full-height window wall create an effect of openness and transparency.
