Medical Clinic
This medical medical serves three doctors and a therapist and contains nine exam rooms, as well as labs, offices and an acupuncture suite. The doctors wanted welcoming, naturally lit interior spaces, within a building that was simple and economical. We wanted to avoid the typical medical environment, a maze of artificially lit halls that cause confusion and anxiety. The hallmark of the design is a 120' reverse barrel-vault ceiling that runs the full length of a central access corridor. This curved poplar ceiling opens the building to the exterior with large windows at both ends. Secondary halls off the main corridor rise to high skylights, filling the interior with light. The 6,200 sq. ft. medical facility serves communities surrounding Lee, Massachusetts.
